#HrdLight - Rachael F... (The Final Image)

Whilst out shooting on location in Stockport the other day I was not even thinking about this project, in-fact was trying not to think about anything else but shooting which proved hard to begin with.  I seem to have a head full of crap at the moment, scattered thoughts, ideas, and worries.

At the start of the shoot I was feeling deflated and struggled to focus (mentally not AF wise), started to think I was going to come away with nothing.. Started to let the doubt come back in… Dam it need to silence that shit.

It normally takes me a while to get in to a shoot, need to warm up but this one seemed to take longer.  I want to add at this point a huge Thank You to Mark Boadey for dragging my ass out shooting and to Rachael for her great work and company on the day.  Eventually I warmed up and got my head somewhat clearer.

During the day we moved around different locations in Stockport, much to the amusement of the Public in some parts. The location in the image above is the final one; I had wanted to shoot in this tunnel for a while and knew it was going to be a lit shot but what kind of shot?

With the camera I was using (Fuji X100) it was going to be a wide shot so I decided to look for symmetry and had Rachael walk across the scene.  After locking in Exposure and focus I set the camera to manual focus and asked Mark to position the light above my shooting position, we ran the light handheld due to the tunnel being busy with traffic and public.

The light is just a simple speedlite on 1/1 power zoomed to 105mm to give a tighter beam of light.  It had to be full power at this distance to get a half decent F stop so I could keep most of the scene in focus.

It wasn’t until I had processed this image that it hit me, this needs to be the final image in this project.

I’m glad the project is done and I can move on, now all I need to do is pull a solid idea out of this noise fest that is my head at the moment and I will be good.

Thanks for reading.
