The Wedding of Ashley & Stacey Jones

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Ashley & Stacey, what a great day it was.

The beautiful ceremony was held at Haughton Green Methodist Church before heading to The Orange Tree Tapas Grill for food which provided a warm and cosy venue for everyone to relax, eat, drink and be merry.

Given the tight space as the Tapas Grill I opted to use my smaller format camera so I could move about and work more easily during the speeches. It was then time to head to the third venue of the day for the reception.

You can see more images from the day in the gallery below. As you can see I was totally upstaged by the kids during the group shots :)

I Need #04 #GOYA - Shira

Back in August I wrote a blog post asking for subjects for me to shoot. I needed to run the camera, lens and lights, produce new work… do something.

This came from a place where I was spending more time thinking about shooting for myself and doing other work instead of actually doing something for myself. Whilst this may sound like a personal project it’s not I have those planned and ready to kick start soon.

If you would like to help me out and allow me to shoot some portraits of you, you can apply via this post. This is the 4th shoot and I have time for another 4 before I close the doors on this and move forwards.

So on to #GOYA #04.

Shira contacted me after seeing the post and images from #GOYA #03 with Laura. It’s been quite humbling to see people give up their time for me and to step in front of a camera.

It was a pleasure meeting and photographing Shira, she’s quite a character. Do you ever ask your subject or client if they can sing during a shoot? I sometimes do with a plan to capture the reaction after the fact… well, Shira started to sing. I did grab a few reaction frames during though.

I want to also shout thanks to my friend Kevin Timmons for assisting me on the day and for jumping in amongst the reeds to hold a light for the main shot at the top of this post.

Head Shots for RM Education LTD

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Ben Jones from RM Education LTD. Ben was looking for head shot photographers when our paths crossed online. After a brief phone call and chat about what he wanted a shoot was booked.

Ben was after some head shots with simple clean backgrounds to match company literature and allow for use internally and for conference posters. For this you can’t beat white or grey because they are timeless and allow for cut outs and changing of layout if required.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet and photograph Ben and swap stories about family and life. I look forward to working with him and RM Education LTD again.

I Need... #03 #GOYA - Laura...

Some weeks ago I put a post up on social media stating that I am looking for subjects to photograph. I go in to detail about the I Need blog post but to summarise I need to Get Off My Ass and make portraits. #GOYA - This is shoot number 3.

Laura was sent a link to my blog post by a local photographer and friend, thank you Terry.

For this shoot we stuck to the studio. The next ones I am going to push for location to break away from where I am comfortable.

Laura was great to work with, she turned up in a great dress and corset outfit with perfect makeup. My job editing was easy.

The hard part was selecting a final image, I went back and forth between 3 frames and finally settled with the frame above. I love the little details in the edge of the mirror and the stolen moment feeling, but I do feel it could be pushed further. Thank fully the mirror is still at the studio (sorry Sis).

I have no idea where these shoots are going to go or what to do with the images from them, some may end up in the book others will get buried. The long and short of it is I need to keep working. #GOYA

Next up are location images. Your home, shed, car, place of work, that dump behind your house.. anywhere but the studio because I am getting far too dam comfortable in that space.
