For this post we will be taking a look at this portrait of Geraldine who is a Yoga and Pilates instructor and also performer and dance on cruise ships.
This was one of the setups used during the shoot.
(BTS Info Rendering done in Set A Light 3D V3)
The final setting show on the Set A Light Render are a bit off, the software needs work IMO to dial in power settings V results of lights you can program in. Anyway.
I am yet to figure out how to program in chances in wall colour through a given space in Set A Light. so had to place some reflector to act as white walls on one side and set the software to a white ceiling which mine is not .. well not all the way along the studio.
Back to the how...
Lit with one light a #pixapro CITI 600 Pro / Godox AD600 Pro (Now Superseded by the AD600 Pro II) which was left bare bulb. You can see in the BTS shot the magnum reflector on the floor, I tried that first but it gave to coo much contrast with it not allowing bounce off the white ceiling and walls.
I opted instead to go for bare bulb, not the most efficient use of flash power but to did allow for light to not just pass through the black polly boards but also t bounce of the white walls and ceiling in that part of the studio.
Shot on a Canon 5DsR with a 35mm lens for a much different perspective than say an 85mm lens.
ISO 200
F8
1/160th sec which is my go to sync speed in the studio for my cameras.
It all made for a controlled dramatic light that still felt bright and positive for the poses and movements being done, think health, active wear.. .little bit of a life style editorial feel.
Huge thank you to Geraldine of GeGe Movement for visiting the studio. Always a blast to catch up and shoot.
